The popular Louisville Fruit Market is moving to the East End location as part of the new business strategy

A local grocer is introducing a new business strategy, which starts with moving one of his stores, according to Louisville Business First. Paul’s Fruit Market plans to move its current store at 4946 Brownsboro Road to a new building at 4966 US 42. It’s just moving down the road, but COO Ben Combs said the new space will allow the old Louisville grocer to introduce a new business approach. “We’ve been in this current store for, I think, close to 50 years,” Combs said. “We just added a lot of stuff that we kind of outgrew.” Combs said the store only started out selling products, but has since added offerings such as deli, gourmet items, gift baskets, plants, food, and more. With the new location, Paul’s will be adding more options, such as prepared food combos and takeaway selections. It will also have a covered car park. Paul’s Fruit Market has four retail operations in Louisville: Brownsboro Road, Taylorsville Road, Chenoweth Lane, and Shelbyville Road. Most stores are about 5,000 to 6,000 square feet, Combs said, and the larger plan for its new storefront in the USA allows the company to change its layout and introduce new offerings. “This is, in a way, a prototype,” Combs said. “This is the first store we’ve ever taken the time to say, ‘We’re over this.'” What exactly is our business model? Do we want to change anything? What do we want to do in the next twenty years? The store is expected to open by fall, Combs said. The Brownsboro location will remain open until the new grocery run.
